ABOUT THE PROJECT
This year the Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S. decided to have its annual conference in Washington D.C.. I was lucky enough to be able to create a concept for this years event and work with Tate Meyer to help create all the assets.

My inspiration for this project came from a lot of research into the culture and background of Washington D.C.. The main logo I drew inspiration from D.C.'s self proclaimed cocktail the Gin Rickey which was supposedly created by a lobbyist in D.C.. We wanted to keep a patriotic feel but without being too political. I drew a lot of inspiration from the 1800s area, looking at original signage of some of D.C.'s original pubs and bars. I was able to find some very old fonts from around that time frame including HWT and ATF. HWT in particular is based off some original woodblock type which helped give the conference an older historical feel. Lastly I drew some inspiration from some very notable political speeches and blended them with distilled spirits.
